Entre les collines du Vermont, une adresse qui cultive moins l'idée d'un lieu de passage que celle d'une maison de campagne où l'on reçoit. Le couple fondateur y recevait d'ailleurs ses amis écrivains et intellectuels, sur fond de verdure. Sur plus de cent hectares de bois, prairies et étangs, les cottages individuels se dispersent comme autant de petites maisons, possédant leur décor propre, une architecture plurielle et une sélection d'art réfléchie – de David Hockney à Jasper Johns. Les jardins de Dan Kiley prolongent cette impression de domaine privé, tandis que le vieux Lift Shack, transformé en refuge pour pique-niquer, ou le petit pavillon vitré du Well Deck donnent prétexte à aller voir ce qui se cache un peu plus loin. À table, la cuisine suit le même fil : produits du Vermont, légumes du potager, miel des ruches et sirop d'érable de la propriété, jusqu'aux fameux lemon soufflé pancakes aux fraises du Vermont. Une métaphore de la vie au grand air.
